Found a Peanut

The Find a Peanut song would seem to take forever to sing from beginning to end. And annoying as hell to sing it.
But we would sing it. Over and over again. And then just sit there afterwards and feel really sad for the dead peanut eater.
The death seemed so sudden and hardly fair. And then to be turned away from heaven, I could barely sing those words.
One late afternoon, when we were quite young, my sister and I were singing it in my aunt's backyard when she stepped outside from the kitchen holding on to a gentleman's arm looking so happy.
"Kids", she said. "I want you all to meet my new husband Hank."
We stopped singing. And just looked at him. And then her. And then him. And then her.
He bent down for a hug, but we just stood there, stunned, unable to move.
We didn't even know she was dating.
Their marriage only lasted a week.
